NUTRITIONAL PROGRAM

All children enrolled at Bright Learning Academy will be provided the following meals-

● Optional Breakfast
● Morning Snack
● Lunch
● Afternoon Snack

Our nutritional program is guided by four goals:

1. Meet the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) nutritional standards.
2. Provide wholesome food, including serving a variety of fresh and/or frozen fruits and vegetables, at least four different types of fruits and vegetables per week, only use whole wheat products, use healthy protein sources (chicken/turkey/fish/dairy/beans), and never serve high-sugar foods. We also only serve 1% milk, 100% fruit juice only once a week, and encourage children to drink water throughout the day.
3. Help children develop lifelong, healthy eating habits by developing lessons that teach about healthy eating, talk about food and healthy choices on a daily basis, and create cooking opportunities to encourage children to try/taste/experience new foods. The adults in the environment will also model and exercise healthy eating habits together with the children.
4. Make mealtimes a warm and pleasant learning and sharing experience. Mealtimes will be done family style, and meaningful/casual conversations will be exchanged.
